In unexpected spaces, things become works of art, shaping the environment around them. Space and object engage in a dialogue, creating new realities through their presence. When we reflect on our lives, we realize that we are mostly surrounded by objects, thoughts, emotions, and belongings that are not of our own creation, but rather handed to us fully formed, complete with their given meanings. These “things,” which we import into our lives for various reasons, gradually occupy a significant portion of our existence, infiltrating the fabric of our daily routines, mental habits, and even our inner worlds. Everything that comes into our lives brings its inherent meaning with it, and while we may take possession of these things, we never fully own the meanings they carry. Thus, these “things” that surround us become part of our identity, yet their meanings remain at a distance, always just out of reach. We believe that ‘things’ can be reinterpreted independently of their functions, and we are profoundly grateful for the inspiration we have drawn from Roche Bobois’ design philosophy in this regard. Our belief has always been that art is a phenomenon awaiting continuous reinterpretation. Gombrich’s idea that an artist does not possess the meaning of their own work has prompted us to reevaluate the objects surrounding us through a new lens. In our desire to reject the imported, we have chosen to rethink certain things anew. We thank you for inspiring us with your exceptional designs on this creative journey.
